• Vuslat Bayoglu is a co-founder and Managing Director of Menar. He holds an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering and has over 20 years of experience in the mining industry. During this period, he deftly led the group from junior to mid-tier status through organic growth and acquisitions. Bayoglu is a hands-on investor with a keen interest in South Africa’s economic development. He also serves on the boards of the Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) and the World Coal Association. 

  • Mpumelelo Mkhabela has been Chairman of Menar since 2019, following a stint as a consultant to the group. He is an experienced business leader, a political economy analyst, and a seasoned media practitioner. Mkhabela has multiple qualifications including a PhD in Political Science, an MA in International Politics, and a BA in Journalism (Hons). He is the former chairman of the South African National Editors’ Forum and a published author.

  • Sipho Ngwenya is an experienced business leader and legal practitioner. He is the Chairman of Zululand Anthracite Colliery and joined the board of Menar in 2023. Ngwenya is one of the founding members of the CCMA, where he was a Senior Commissioner before being elevated to the Bench of the High Court. He previously served as Chairman of the Ingonyama Trust Board and as a Senior official of the Independent Electoral Commission, which presided over the first democratic elections in the history of South Africa. Ngwenya is also a former panellist of the Independent Mediation Service of South Africa.
