Group Supply Chain Manager
JOB PURPOSE
The incumbent will be responsible for effectively managing and leading the procurement of all products, services, etc to ensure consistent, strategic focus on these critical spend.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish and maintain processes and systems to supply effective and efficient procurement services to the Group
Ensure the supply of commodities on site against agreed Service Level Agreements
Engage with Senior Management on their demands/requirements in order to deliver the required Procurement service
Monthly reporting to the Executive committee on savings, risks, etc.
Lead initiatives to optimize cost from local supply purchases and guide the Procurement Managers in setting a strategy for executing orders in the most efficient manner
Supplier evaluation and due diligence – liaise with the Finance Department to ensures timely payments of invoices
Manage all master data required to manage all Procurement processes, including vendors, manage stock holders and manage turn-around time and deliveries to various sites
Conform to policies and procedures to ensure best practices exist in terms of inventory, minimisation of risks and fraud/theft
Conduct market research to continually assess cost competitiveness and market trends to manage existing supplier contracts
Contain costs through price increases negotiations to ensure that costs are contained below budget escalation
Ensure the Procurement Departments meets the requirements of the Social and Labour Plan, as well as the Mining Charter with regards to procurement.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
A Degree in Supply Chain Management or related degree that is essential for this position.
At least 10 - 15 years experience in a Procurement Management role with demonstratable results in complex procurement within the mining industry.
Previous experience in managing and leading the Procurement team and managing cross functional relationships.
Code EB driver license
Must have the ability to work under pressure and deliver according to agreed timescales
Interpersonal skills to motivate and involve people on safety and relevant issues.
Good verbal and written communication ability.
The successfully candidate must be computer literate and ideally have experience working with an ERP system.
Must have strong leadership, resilience, knowledge and commercial know-how to be able to leader from the front.
Good understanding of product costing is essential
The successful candidate must be analytical with a strong understanding of inventory and supply chain modelling from end to end.
Strong negotiation skills
