Phalanndwa Colliery Canyon Coal
Phalanndwa colliery is located 10km east of Delmas mpumalanga, commenced mining in October 2010 and was fully operational inclusive of its wash plant in 2013. Canyon coal extracts 120 000 tons of ROM per month of 2 upper,main and lower scams with ROM top size of 500mm.
According to Alan Mabbett general manager at Phalanndwa colliery, the coal seams in the Bronkhorstspruit area have distinctive characteristics totally different from the seams typically found in the witbank coalfield.
They understand that the impact of mining on the environment and surrounding communities cannot be ignored by companies, which is why they are committed to comply with all the applicable legislation in all areas of their operation in order to minimise their impact.
82% of the employees reside in the Victor Khanye municipality. Employment of locals at the mine is done in conjunction with the relevant forum.
Mr Alan Mabbett said that they offer learnerships, bursaries, skill development for intern and local community, employment opportunities and many more implementation. It was so nice and warm to be the part of the #mtj2018
