Logistics Superintendent

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Commodity knowledge 

  • Negotiation and influencing skills 

  • In-depth knowledge of coal processing, sampling, analysis of coal, road transportation, sales and contract management, demurrage and dispatch calculations 

  • Degree in logistics 

  • Strong attention to detail ability 

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role in the mining industry 

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Administration and data processing: Liaising with transporters/third party entities when the documents do not comply with the contract of if there are mismatching data sets, provide all supporting documentation in order to update the systems, process all supplier invoices for payment, understand the requirements of the administration of the logistics contracts. 

  • Product Movement and Logistics: Communicate with internal/external suppliers to agree and schedule customer deliveries and to ensure that company assets are protected whilst in transit, ensure that the underlying accounting for all coal deliveries on and off stockpiles are correct, check the integrity of the stockpile practices, ensure all relevant documentation is in order, ensure timely collection and delivery of products, ensure that reconciliation processes are correct, monitor production availability/performance metrics with the suppliers, manage stockpile inventory,  provide third parties with required logistics information. 

  • Marketing: Work closely with the marketing team to ensure that all planning requirements are optimised, understand the data requirements into the integrated planning system. 

  • Finance: Provide data to Finance, third parties and check and confirm suppliers’ invoices before processing. 

  • Customer Service: Manage customer communications, facilitate and coordinate customers and suppliers’ claims. 

  • Group Governance and Risk Management: Escalate and communicate any compliances discrepancies, logistics and other risk areas, maintain accurate records and report any inappropriate behaviour/situations speedily. 

  • Process Improvement:  Review and drive process improvement opportunities, streamline data handling processes and support implementation of key optimisation projects. 

  • Support to the Menar Group: Establish site-specific operations procedures, reconcile tonnage movement and product qualities, follow up on movement of scheduled road transportation.
