Financial Analyst (Entry Level)
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Financial Analyst will play a crucial role within the Business Development Department, supporting strategic decision-making through rigorous financial analysis, valuation assessments, and insightful reporting. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can contribute to assessing, evaluating, and executing M&A activities, alongside other investment opportunities.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
M&A and Investment Opportunity Assessment:
Assist in evaluating potential mergers, acquisitions, and strategic investments.
Conduct financial due diligence, including analysis of financial statements, industry trends, and market data.
Prepare detailed financial models and forecasts to support decision-making processes.
Valuation Analysis:
Perform company valuations using appropriate methodologies (e.g., discounted cash flow, comparable company analysis).
Analyze financial metrics and market trends to assess valuation implications.
Prepare comprehensive valuation reports and presentations for senior management review.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Support the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting activities.
Monitor budget performance against actual results, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions as necessary.
Provide financial insights to optimize resource allocation and business planning.
Financial Analysis:
Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support strategic initiatives and operational decisions.
Prepare financial reports, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs), trends, and areas for improvement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyse financial impacts of proposed business strategies.
Ad Hoc Analysis:
Undertake special projects and ad hoc analysis as requested by management.
Respond promptly to inquiries from internal stakeholders regarding financial data and analysis.
Reporting and Presentation:
Prepare and distribute regular financial reports to management and stakeholders.
Present findings and recommendations clearly and concisely, ensuring insights drive informed decision-making.
Highlight KPIs, financial trends, and areas of concern in reports to facilitate strategic discussions.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
Strong understanding of financial principles, including valuation techniques and financial modeling.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software applications.
Proficiency in building PowerPoint presentations.
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when required.
Prior internship or relevant work experience in financial analysis or business development is advantageous.
Newly qualified CA or Applicants enrolled in the CFA Program will be advantageous as well.
