Port Shift Logistics Co-ordinator

DESCRIPTION

A mid-tier mining group is looking to recruit a dynamic, well-experienced Port Shift Logistics Co-ordinator to join the team. The successful incumbent will be based in Richards Bay, KZN

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

  • Logistics/Supply Chain Degree or similar qualification.

  • At least 5 years cargo and stockpile management experience at a port.

  • Must be computer literate, excellent Excel skills advantageous.

  • Good writing, reporting and verbal communication skills. 

  • Ability to meet deadlines.

  • Must be willing to travel and have a valid driver’s license.

  • Must be willing to travel to port after hours on and as and when required basis.

  • Furthermore, must be willing to travel to other ports in South Africa and Maputo.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, execute and monitor all shipping activities.

  • Plan, execute all offloading of rail and road activities.

  • Manage third party storage facilities and inventory.

  • Liaise daily with storage facilities to maintain accurate inventory balances.

  • Oversee and control product receipt, storage, and ship loading.

  • Ensures all documentation regarding the movement of product (shipping, rail, road, etc) is properly and timeously completed.

  • Liaise with shipping agencies to ensure the timeous and efficient export of products to customers.

  • Liaise with Tally and monitoring personnel to ensure correct information and storage of goods.

  • Liaise with sampling company to ensure product is correctly sampled.

  • Reconcile and oversee stock transfer to the port and transfer to vessel loading areas.

  • Achieve optimal availability by ensuring effective monitoring of truck fleets.

  • Drive business excellence by supporting continuous improvement projects.

  • Supervise the loading of product onto the vessel.

  • Ensure that inbound and outbound rail and road traffic is maintained at optimum levels by liaising with service providers daily.

  • Monitor and control inbound/outbound logistics of products, ensuring

  • product movements to the port are on schedule.

  • Coordinate dispatches to ensure that appropriate mode of transport is used (Road or Rail).

  • Manage and oversee the use and efficiency of port and private assets.

  • Stockpile management and utilisation.

  • Control and maintain the integrity of the port logistics operation, ensuring that all shipment requirements are met with no quality or contamination risks.

  • Manage port, rail and road service levels.

  • Liaises closely with shipping agents, port, rail and road logistics personnel to ensure smooth and efficient product transfer from mine to shipment.

  • Co-ordinate and manage the stockpiling of goods.

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for logistics operations.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and third-party logistics providers.
