Chief Operating Officer

JOB PURPOSE

The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the Company’s daily business operations and administration relating to two mines, one in KwaZulu Natal and the other in Mpumalanga. Furthermore, the incumbent will provide leadership, management and vision to ensure the organisational short-term and long-term objectives are being met.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate Company performance and recommend strategies to improve results 

  • Manage ongoing operations and processes of the business 

  • Design, plan and implement business strategies, plans and procedures

  • Oversee daily operations 

  • Set comprehensive goals for business growth and success

  • Oversee the creation of budgets and financial reports and ensure that budgets are not exceeded 

  • Mentoring and inspiring subordinates to reach the Company goals 

  • Establishing policies and procedures to improve and promote the Company goals 

  • Collaborating with Management and Stakeholders to increase production and carry out business-expanding strategies 

  • Responsible for all management reports 

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • A Degree – preferably in Mining/Business Administration or related degree 

  • At least 10 - 15 years’ experience in a similar role with demonstratable results in complex mining activities 

  • Valid driver’s licence 

  • Outstanding organisational and time management skills 

  • Must have the ability to work under pressure and deliver according to agreed timescales 

  • Must have executive level Interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate people 

  • Good verbal and written communication ability

  • The successfully candidate must be computer literate 

  • Must have strong leadership, resilience, knowledge and commercial know-how to be able to leader from the front

  • The successful candidate must be analytical with a strong understanding of mining 

  • Strong negotiation skills
