Mine Planner – Opencast mine

Join our dynamic team as an Open Cast Mine Planner and contribute your expertise in strategic mine planning and optimization. As a key member of our mining operations, you will play a crucial role in designing and executing efficient extraction strategies while prioritizing safety and environmental sustainability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive mine plans, considering geological data, production requirements, and economic feasibility.

  • Design & Optimization: Create detailed designs for mining operations, including layouts, sequences, and scheduling to optimize resource extraction.

  • Resource Assessment: Conduct assessments of mineral deposits, analyzing quality, quantity, and viability for extraction.

  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and legal compliance in all planning activities.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with geologists, engineers, and operational staff to coordinate planning and execution strategies.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements within mining operations.

  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records, produce reports, and communicate plans effectively to stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Preferably a Degree in Mining Engineering or related field or studying towards such a qualification.

  • 5 years of experience in open-cast mine planning, with demonstrated expertise in mine design software (OCCS & MicroStation preferred).

  • In-depth knowledge of open cast mining and extraction optimisation

  • Strong understanding of safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
